Put up a Custom Ice Cream Bar Shop

Ice cream is always cool in summer. Here are two ice cream business ideas for you.

1: The subway sandwich style ice cream shop.

a)Have on hand different fruit choices like apples, bananas, kiwi

b) have simple ice cream choices. vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, mint

c) Have topping choices peanuts, almonds, pecans, cashews, raisins, currants, dried mango, sunflower seeds, chocolate syrup, jams, caramel.

Have the customer order what they want like in subway.

I'll have a foot long ham and cheese on white. with everything.

I'll have a banana, with 3 scoops of vanilla with everything.

2: The second idea would be to make custom ice cream bars.

Start with a basic ice cream on a stick, coat that with nuts or toppings of their choice, then covered and flash frozen with another ice cream choice followed by chocolate and more nuts or sprinkles as desired.

Collect Scrap and Process It

Collecting scrap is a great way to earn pocket money. You just have to do it legally. The basic economics are simple. You buy low and sell high. Typically when you sell stuff at a scrap dealer they pay you a bit less than half what it is worth. Or in some cases much less. Mixed scrap is always paid at the lowest rate. In my area bright clean copper is worth about $5 a kilo however power cord wire is only $1 a kilo. If you are just sitting at home watching TV it is worth a bit to remove the plastic. Here is a video of how to remove the plastic on a power cord:

Typically for scrap you get paid for larger amounts. Less than a truckload you get chump change. For 10 tons or more you get a price closer to market value. If you can manage to collect that much you can be sure others will be interested in your commodity.

Copy a Company from Another Country

There is no domestic version of Kraft Dinner in Korea. Alternatively it is very hard to find nengmyeon outside of Korea. There are probably hundreds of products that are very popular in their home country that would be successful overseas. Tacos and hot sauce as a snack is almost global but here in Korea all of it is imported. Someone could start a company and produce these products locally from locally sourced ingredients and hence sell the resulting products at a very competitive price. You could do the same wherever you are with foods, kitchen utensils (Mocka pots, coffee grinders), websites, etc.

Children's Day Yard sale

We just had Children's day here in Korea. Children's day is on May 5 and it is a national holiday. For children's day we went to a special Yard sale in a city park put on by a local charity. Attendance was free. The people who sold had to register with the charity and then pay 50% of the profits to the charity as a form of thanks. I don't think the accounting was very stringent. All the goods on display or for sale were for children. There were clothes, bikes, many different toys, and books. I have been to this sale a couple of times and it seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

Todays money idea is: If you have a charity you could organize a multifamily yard sale as well as some simple local events for fun for kids. With everything targeted toward children and having fun. Sell hot-dogs, cotton candy, ice cream, and beverages. Charge a simple commission to the people selling and pray for a nice day.

Every Camera Needs a "Car Mode"

This seems obvious to me. Cameras are outclassed very fast and I already have a couple just sitting around my house. The only difference between them and the car camera I want is software. Every camera should have a "Car Mode."

In Car Mode a camera can be used as a block box and will take a set number of pictures each second and save them to the memory card. Once the card is full the first pictures are then deleted and the camera keeps recording. This will have the camera recording in a loop and when turned off or stopped it will hold a certain number of previous minutes recordings in memory. When the cameras are installed in a car for driving they will film what the driver sees.

With this on a camera its lifetime and usefulness will be extended. Also people will have incentive to always carry their cameras in their car where they can then detach and make use of them taking pictures of family or whatever.

The next time you go shopping for a camera if it has a car mode. Eventually someone will listen.

If you live near Freeport Texas or in China here is a way to make money.

The last Pidgeon process magnesium plant is in Freeport Texas. Most magnesium in the world now comes from China. The Pidgeon process uses a lot of ferrosilicon. Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon that can cost $1270 per ton. In the scrap metal industry often people throw out transformers. Transformers are ferrosilicon cores wrapped with copper. Someone in the scrap industry needs to collect the cores separate the copper. Then sell the remaining cores on back into the steel industry as ferrosilicon or on to the magnesium producers. Most of it now just goes into plain steel scrap. Or at least that's what my scrap dealer tells me. I bring him a box of stripped cores and he says to me with a very straight face. “Oh that's steel. It's magnetic.”

Start a Medical Tourism Company

Medical costs in the US are crazy. It is easy and convenient to have common procedures done outside of the United States. Medical fees to have a procedure done outside the States are usually 50% what they are in the united states. This will include the cost of airfare and Hotels. The only problem is the fear of the unknown factor. South Korea has a world class medical system and the doctors are well trained. Many of the doctors in Seoul are or are in the process of getting accredited for medical practice in the United States. The nurses as well. Doctors in Korea are usually fluent in English to boot. A good business to start would be one that chooses a common procedure and sets up a medical holiday for patients from the US. A good business would pick up patients at the airport, and give them some hand holding while they are overseas for their procedure.

Extract Potassium from Seawater

Everyone knows there is salt in seawater. Well ... salt is a dissolved metal. If one gets test equipment that is good enough one can find every metal in seawater. Some elements are just spread very thin.

One example is gold. There is between 3 and 6 ppb (parts per billion) of gold in seawater. I mean in one billion parts perhaps 4 are gold. That is very little. If one had a machine or process that would perfectly extract the gold then they would be left with pumping the water into the processor. The energy used pumping the water would cost more than the value of the gold recovered. On the other hand if the processor was placed in an open ocean current one could use the power of the ocean to do the extraction. Then again it would be easier to just put out electrical generators to generate power and then sell the power for money.

There is a lot of potassium in seawater though. For every liter of seawater there is 3.8 grams of potassium in it. Potassium is useful as potash. It sells for about $400 per ton and is used as fertilizer.
If an extraction process can be figured out where it is economical to extract the potassium then a profit can be made.

A possible method would be to have a long tube of semi permeable membrane. permeable to Na+ and K+ ions but not permeable to anything larger ( like soap). Then with the tube in the ocean a water soluble Na+(cation)- is pumped through the tube and K+(cation)- drops out as a solid which can then be filtered and collected. The trick, of course, is to find the right cation. An example of one is nitrate. (NO3)- At room temperature a solution of Na+, K+, and (NO3)- holds but when the temperature drops the KNO3 precipitates out as a solid. Some does stay in solution though.

China now imports a lot of potassium from Canada as it is cheaper to import it than extract it from the sea but in the future when the population is greater and the need for fertilizer and food is greater the price of potassium will rise and someone will commercialize a process for this. Perhaps it will be done in tandem with the extraction of magnesium, lithium, and uranium from seawater.

Unfortunately I currently live inland.
